About ME

Claire Tan

I live in Hampshire, married with three spirited children and a big cat Willow. I am a qualified nurse for nearly 30 years, working in Hospices, NHS hospitals and Community Care teams across the UK as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care.

I feel privileged to have supported and cared for many families holistically through their end of life journey, which can sometimes feel both overwhelming and helpless. In my experience, death is something we get only one chance to do well and I believe everyone should have the right to a good death.

Sharing our wishes with loved ones can help us appreciate our life, by thinking about what really matters to us, at a time when there is so much uncertainty. However it is often these conversations that families fear most and therefore they are sadly neglected as a topic for discussion. I am passionate about helping to facilitate these conversations, so that loved ones can share their wishes and preferences, to ensure that everyone feels heard and empowered about what really matters.
